1. What is your personal opinion towards file sharing? Is it right or wrong? Please explain.
My personal opinion towards file sharing is that it is wrong, however with that said, I would be a hypocrite. Everyone has downloaded something illegally before. I've never been able to find anyone who has NEVER downloaded/ file shared. Some people have probably stopped due to respect for artists but it's almost certain that they've taken part in this illegal act.By file sharing, we are disrespecting an artist's work of art. They have created something, hopefully for a price, but by file sharing, we are not paying for this price. Therefore, by file sharing, we are able to get things for free even though they have value, which is very wrong.
2. If you produced your own piece of art/song/movie, would you hold the same opinion?
To be honest, if I were to produce my own piece of art/song/movie, I would not hold the same opinion. My opinion for this matter was out of respect for those who didn't appreciate our actions -I was speaking out of guilt. However, for myself, I wouldn't mind people sharing my art for free. If anything, I would give people the option of either buying my art or downloading it for free LEGALLY. I would allow this because I don't have a lot of confidence that my art would appeal to so many people. By giving this option; the rate of how often my art is shared, how popular it is and the amount of people who actually pay for my art would tell me how well my art is. I got this idea from the band Radiohead. They gave their fans an option of downloading their album for free and actually buying it. Most people expected that people would take the album for free, but 75% of the fans bought the album for the full price. This goes to show how respected Radiohead is and that their art, based on their fans' reactions, was worth it.

3. Do you feel it is morally acceptable to download copyrighted material if it is only intended for personal use?
I feel that it is not morally acceptable to download copyrighted material even if it is only intended for personal use. Despite the fact that it is being used for personal reasons, it does not excuse the person from taking part in something illegal. Stealing is stealing and that has no exception. I might be biased on this and I am definitely a hypocrite since I do file share, but I don't see what kind of personal reason is good enough for someone to be granted the acceptability to steal someone's work of art. I might be ignorant in this matter, while so many people are allowing it, but their reasons are too vague and I still can't find even one adequate reason. I'm keeping an open mind to it, but for now... I do not think that it is morally acceptable.
